Getting Started with Blink Drive App

The driver app is designed to help drivers seamlessly log in, access their assigned tasks, and manage trip details. This guide walks you through how to use the application.

Sign In

Sign In to the Blink Driver App

Step 1: Open the App

  • Launch the Blink Driver app on your mobile device.
    On the welcome screen, tap Sign In.

  • If your organization has given you a QR code, you can also choose Scan QR Code to log in quickly (see the next section).

Step 2: Enter Your Credentials

To sign in manually, enter the following details provided in your welcome email:

  • Organization ID – a unique code (e.g., G3Q-1297) assigned to your company.

  • Username – your registered username (usually your name).

  • Password – the secure password linked to your account.

Once all fields are complete, tap Let’s go to continue.
By signing in, you agree to Blink’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.


Sign In Using a QR Code

If you prefer not to type your credentials, you can sign in instantly by scanning a QR code from your organization.

Step 1: Open the QR Scanner

From the sign-in screen, tap Or Scan QR Code.
Your camera will open automatically.

Step 2: Scan the Code

Hold your phone steady and align the QR code within the frame.
You’ll find your code in the welcome email sent by your organization.

Step 3: First-Time Login Setup

If this is your first time signing in, you’ll be asked to create a password.
Your password must include:

  • At least 12 characters

  • One uppercase letter (A–Z)

  • One lowercase letter (a–z)

  • One number (0–9)

Re-enter it in Confirm Password, then tap Set Password to finish setup.

Step 4: Access Your Dashboard

After scanning and authentication, you’ll be signed in automatically.

Forgot Password

  • If you forgot your password, tap Forgot Password?

  • Follow the instructions sent to your email to reset it.

Important Notes/Alerts

🔑 Access Requirements

  • Password must be 12+ chars, include uppercase, lowercase, and a number.

⚠️ Common Errors

  • Invalid QR Code → Use the latest code from your email or request a new one.

  • Password Too Weak → Update to meet all strength criteria.

  • Forgot Password Error → Check connection/email, then retry.

Tips for Smooth Sign-In

  • Keep Org ID + Username + Password ready.

  • Use QR Code only from official email.


Clocking In & Out

Drivers must clock in at the start of their shift and clock out at the end.

Clock In

  1. Tap Clock In on the home screen.

  2. Swipe to confirm.

  3. A message appears: “Submitted, your location is shared!”

    • Your live location is now visible to event organizers.

Clock Out

  1. Tap Clock Out on the home screen.

  2. Swipe to confirm.

  3. Your live location will no longer be shared.

Trips Overview

On the home screen, trips are listed under events. Each trip card shows:

  • Trip name (e.g., Stadium Pickup).

  • Passenger count.

  • Time window.

👉 Tap a trip to view full details.

Trip Details

Each trip contains:

  • Passenger Information → Primary passenger and companions.

  • Assignment Information → Dates and time of responsibility.

  • Location → Pickup/drop-off points with map view.

  • Notes → Special instructions for drivers.

Navigation & Communication

Navigation

  1. Tap Navigate to location.

  2. Choose Maps, Google Maps, or in-app navigation.

  3. Tap Begin Ride Navigation to start.

  4. Follow turn-by-turn guidance with ETA.

Passenger Communication

  • Tap Chat with Passenger.

  • Default chat opens with the first passenger in the list.

  • If a passenger messages you, the chat button redirects to that thread.

Completing Trips

Normal Completion

  1. Tap Mark As Complete on the Trip screen.

  2. Add comments if needed.

  3. Tap Finish Trip → Organizers are notified.

  4. Trip status updates to Trip Completed.

Report a Problem

  1. Tap Report a Problem.

  2. Add a photo and comment.

  3. Choose to End Trip or Continue Trip.

👉 Special Cases

Ending Early

  • Warning: “You’re about to finish a trip outside the last stop.”

  • Options: Cancel or Finish Trip (add a comment).

Active Trip Found

  • Warning: “You must stop the current trip to start a new one.”

  • Options: Cancel or End Old Trip.


Chatting & Contact Options

The chat feature ensures drivers can stay in touch with passengers and event organizers.

Chat Options

  • 1:1 Chat → Direct conversation with a passenger.

  • Event Picker → Choose which event/trip context the chat belongs to.

  • Media Sharing → Send images (e.g., for reporting issues or confirming status).

  • Voice Chat → Quick push-to-talk option for real-time updates.

Special Cases

  • If the internet fails, chat shows a clear error state and messages queue until reconnection.

  • Message status indicators show if a message is sent, delivered, or failed.

  • Chat defaults to the first passenger, but if a passenger messages the driver, the reply links directly to that thread.

Contact Alternatives

  • If chat isn’t sufficient, drivers may have access to:

    • Direct call option (to passengers or dispatch).

    • Report a Problem → Sends structured info with photos + notes to organizers.

💡 Tip for drivers: Always use in-app chat first so organizers can track communication.


Driver Profile Set up

Profile Home

How to open: Tap the Profile tab (person icon) in the bottom bar.

What you see:

  • Your photo, name, and role at the top.

  • Menu items:

    • Switch Event

    • Profile Info

    • Settings

    • Log Out

Tip: If you’re mid-shift, review changes before switching events or logging out so you don’t interrupt current assignments.

Profile Settings

The Profile Settings page lets you review and update your personal information.

Edit Personal Details

  • Tap inside the First Name or Last Name fields to make changes.

  • Update your name as it should appear across the system.

Change Profile Picture

  • Tap the camera icon on your profile image.

  • Upload or capture a new photo from your device.

Change Password

  • Tap Change Password.

  • Follow the on-screen steps to set a new password securely.

Save or Cancel Changes

  • Tap Save to confirm updates.

  • Tap Cancel to discard edits and keep existing details.

App Settings

The App Settings screen helps you control notifications and app appearance.

Event Reminders

  • Toggle ON to get notified before each assigned event or shift.

  • Toggle OFF to stop receiving reminders.

Theme

  • Choose your preferred Mode (Dark/Light) for the app interface.

  • The Default mode applies the system-standard color scheme.

Switch Event

Why: Choose which event’s routes, riders, and schedules you’re working on.

What’s on the screen:

  • Search bar (find a specific event).

  • Current Events list (active/ongoing).

  • Past Events list (history view only).

Steps:

  1. Tap Switch Event.

  2. Pick the correct event from Current Events.

  3. Confirm. The app reloads with that event’s jobs, venues, and contacts.

Note: If you don’t see your event, pull to refresh or contact your dispatcher to confirm your assignment.

Tip: Keeping your profile updated makes sure you receive accurate communication and event assignments.
Always save changes before leaving the settings page.
